REJURAN (SKIN HEALER)

Rejuran is a series of skin boosters based on polydeoxyribonucleotide (PDRN). PDRN presents DNA polymers of 50 to 2,000 nucleotides long, it is isolated from the testis of salmon and also known as polynucleotide (PN). Rejuran I is a skin booster for dermal repair and hydration. The product presents a combination of salmon-derived polynucleotide extract (PN) and hyaluronic acid (HA). What are Polyneucleotides (PN)?

Polydeoxyribonucleotides (PDRN) has previously been used as a skin injectable for anti-aging and hair growth treatments in Korea, and medically for skin regeneration purposes. PN is a purer and more concentrated form of PDRN and has stronger regenerative properties.

Polynucleotide (PN) used in Rejuran is a type of biological molecule similar to DNA in cells and is extracted from salmon. The main reason salmon was used is because salmon DNA was found to have beneficial effects on human skin and the DNA is very similar to human DNA. Researchers found that salmon DNA is safe and it is purified to prevent causing side effects such as allergic reactions. PN can help the skin by providing anti-inflammatory and wound healing mechanisms which in turn can help to stimulate collagen, improve hydration and elasticity of the skin.

Difference between Rejuran and Skinboosters

FAQ

1. Is the treatment painful?

Rejuran is most effective when injected into the superficial level of the skin where pain can be more intense. Therefore, a numbing cream will be applied prior to the treatment to reduce the pain, but mild-moderate pain is felt during the injections. The needle is very small to minimize the pain - even smaller than those used for "botox". Once the procedure is finished there will usually be no more pain.

2. What part of face/neck can be treated?

REJURAN can be injected to all areas of the face and neck - even around eyes or under eyes. REJURAN can also safely be injected to the neck wrinkle areas. The most important thing is to consult with your doctor about the areas to be treated.

3. Who is suitable for Rejuran?

Humans start aging and losing collagen from their mid-twenties, hence Rejuran may be recommended for both men and women from their mid-twenties onwards. Rejuran is also suitable for people suffering from sunken acne scars and poor skin texture.

REJURAN is composed of highly biocompatible DNA fragments very similar to our body: studies have shown no severe side effects such as tolerance or immunological / allergic responses after the administration of the product. Common side effects would be redness, swelling and pain which will resolve in 24-28 hours Bruising is rare, but if occurs, can last 1-2 weeks but will resolve.

6. How often will I need to perform the treatment?

Rejuran stimulates skin growth and its effects are seen over a period of time. The initial intensive period involves a series of monthly treatments for 3~4 sessions. Because the skin is a dynamic, living organ, maintenance treatment is required every 4 to 6 months to keep the skin in its optimal state.

7. Is there any downtime for the Rejuran?

Downtime with Rejuran is very minimal as the needle used is very small. Patients may experience slight bumpiness of the skin right after the treatment, but this usually subsides within 30~60 mins.

Minimal redness is experienced with manual injections.

8. What should I do after the treatment?

You will have redness and swelling ("bumps" which look like small mosquito bites) on the injection sites for 1-2 days after the day of the treatment. You are advised to stay indoors for 24-48 hours after the treatment to avoid external damage from the sun, pollutants, or cosmetics. The visible "bumps" will usually subside within 24 hours.

You should not apply make-up 24-48 hours to avoid unnecessary clogging of the injection sites which may lead to acne or infection. You should also avoid prolonged exposure to sunlight, extreme temperatures, using saunas or Turkish baths, massages, strenuous exercise for two weeks after the injection.

9. When can I start to see results?

For optimal results, it is advised to do 3-4 sessions at 3-4 weeks intervals. Results may take more than 3-4 weeks after the 3rd or 4th session and results may vary according to the individual due to genetic and environmental factors. You are reminded that this is NOT a "filler" injection for augmentation of the face, so obvious visible changes in facial features will not be seen.

The restoration/skin rejuvenation process is largely dependent on individual's cellular turnover rate, but a marked improvement to the skin can usually be observed within a few days of the first treatment, and the best results are observed after 3-4 treatments.
